MTEL Connect Versions

This page contains changes to the MTEL Connect app for each version released. Version information is presented below if the changes directly affect the user. Many changes are made to background processes and are not included in this list for clarity.

It is important that the app operates on the latest version. If your mobile has app updates disabled then the app is missing new functionality or new operational improvements.

It is recommended to check your version when MTEL releases news items to indicate important changes to the app products. The version is always at the bottom of the settings page.

The app version is a three digit indication of the change to the app. The first digit identifies a system wide change. e.g. V2 to V3 which occured in March 2025. The second digit increments as the app adds new functionality. The third digit indicates a revision of the current function set. Typically it is a bug fix, or it could be simply a change to a setting.

The version numbers always increase. This allows the user to determine the current level of functionality. The numbers are not always consecutive. The versions are often changed by the developers several times before an official relase is made.

There are releases that are significant and users should at least have this version as a minimum. These releases will be indentified on this page and MTEL will also send notifications of these releases.

This version made improvements specific to apple devices. The iPhone requires additional different startup settings to android devices. This meant the iPhone was slower to startup. This version changes the startup process.

🚀 Faster Startup Time The most noticeable improvement is significantly reduced startup time. Unlike previous versions that initialized services sequentially, this update launches services in parallel—resulting in a quicker, more responsive user interface.

🔄 Optimized Background Behavior

We recommend keeping the app running in the background after use rather than closing it. When idle, the app consumes no data, battery, or system resources, ensuring efficient performance without impacting your device.

Features

This version introduced new features and bug fixes. The update is automatic and should be completed to all devices by the 11/8/2025. If the app version is not updated by this date the user can download the latest by following the user guide. How to install and set up the app

This version introduces the ability to self-nominate the user rank and qualification.

The second feature is the ability to use URLs in the Notes page. This is intended to give the user a news or item update with a targeted link to more detailed information in the MTEL Connect website.

  • Notes page has the ability to recognise URLs and allows them to be selected and advance to the webpage.

V3.2.10

Release date: 11/7/2025

This version introduced new features and bug fixes. The update is automatic and should be completed to all devices by the 18/7/2025. If the app version is not updated by this date the user can download the latest by following the user guide. How to install and set up the app

This version increases feedback to the user when changing settings. It provides links to then new MTEL Connect V3 website. It also improves the turnout list scrolling and refresh when moving between the pages.

Features

  • Settings contains new buttons for Support(Support) and this web site (User Guide). These buttons take the user to the relevant sections in the MTEL Connect website. (This website)
  • A toast(green popup window) is presented as a temporary popup when a user sends a response during a turnout.
  • A toast is presented when a user changes their availability.
  • Improved scrolling of the Turnout list.

Bug Fixes

  • Turnout List refresh. The turnout list is now refreshed as the user moves from Notes or Settings to the Turnouts page.

V3.2.8

Release date: 26/6/2025

This version introduced new features and bug fixes.

Features

  • Internet Connectivity monitor. The app mointors internet connectivity and pops up a red banner when the internet is not available for Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Added new popup window to advise the user that the GPS has been deselected.
  • Added new pop up window for users selecting Meet On Scene. The pop up adivses the user to contact the Officer In Command.

Bug Fixes

  • Changes to Settings Page

    • Label change from Mute Update Notifications to Disable Crew Response Notifications. This was changed to reduce confusion. This button relates to the default sound that is sent when users send in their response. It does nort affect the alert sound for a turnout.

    • Text is all settings has been changed from bold to normal font.

    • Geolocation fix. On startup if a user selects Do not use GPS the startup would fail to run the notification setup. This caused the app to fail to register to the MTEL server the token for notifications. The MTEL server is unable to alert the user. This bug was created in Version 3.2.4 and only affected new users from that version. Previous users would operate correctly.
